Surfshark One is the antivirus product of Surfshark. You can download Surfshark One as an app or tool for your computer, mobile devices and other gadgets. Surfshark (VPN) has consistently been rated well on platforms like Trustpilot for its VPN, but what about Surfshark One Antivirus?
This is the company’s latest attempt to expand its services. Surfshark One has a suite of features that might be promising to users looking for advanced antivirus software.
The antivirus is easy to install, with an intuitive and user-friendly interface that is a breeze to navigate. You can download the software through the website or go to the App Store or Play Store to download it as an app for your mobile gadgets.
Installation is easy: just choose a plan and select the tools and features you need. Once done, you need to select your operating system (Windows, Mac, iOS, Android) before running the setup.
The software’s intuitive user interface makes it easy to use, even for beginners. The user interface is clean, and you can quickly navigate the system and its features on the sidebar.
However, when Surfshark identifies a threat, it does not specify the kind of malware, virus, or worm that was detected. It deletes the file or blocks the threat but provides no other information.
Surfshark One is a comprehensive plan that combines VPN, Search, and Alert features along with its antivirus. It is one plan billed monthly, with a two-year option in which you pay for 24 months and then billed annually after.
Surfshark Antivirus has several features that provide real-time protection for any platform and protects your data from hackers and other suspicious sites. However, it still has limited features when compared to other antivirus programs. It has no password manager, webcam, file, or payment protection.
Once installed, Surfshark will run an initial scan of your system to check for existing malware and other cyber threats. Once it identifies malware, viruses, or worms, it collates them in a counter where you can choose to delete them.
Surshark does not reveal the names of infected files or threats, and users cannot access these files once they are deleted. In some tests, Surfshark only identified 86% of threats, which is considerably lower than other programs.
Surfshark has a built-in ad and malware blocker in its VPN, called CleanWeb. You can remove ads and detect malicious websites that might be stealing your data. You can use CleanWeb for any device and block phishing scams even as you browse.
It also has an Alert tool that notifies you when a data breach is highly possible or when your personal information is compromised.
This is one of Surfshark Antivirus’s biggest weaknesses. It offers no ransomware remediation in case your system is compromised. Even with a superb VPN and Alert system, Surshark’s antivirus is a basic digital tool providing only basic security features.
Surfshark has a vast knowledge base that users can access. For now, most topics only cover the VPN. Given that the antivirus is a fairly new feature, only a few knowledge base pages cover user concerns, focused mainly on installation and understanding threats.
Surfshark provides support through email and live chat with a human instead of a bot. For now, there is no community for Surfshark users. A phone call with customer service agents is the best way to address technical issues.
Surfshark Antivirus is promising, but its limited security and protection cannot compare to other programs in the market. However, when bundled with its excellent VPN, it might be the right product for some users. If you want more than basic antivirus protection you might want to look for another option.
